What does the budget calculator calculate for loans?

Best Finance's budget calculator determines, based on your personal financial situation, the loan amount you can obtain according to the Swiss Federal Budget Code. Consumer Credit Act (KKG) can afford it. It is the key tool before you apply for a personal loan.

What is taken into account?

  • Your monthly net income including 13th month salary
  • Basic legal needs allowance (depending on living situation & number of children)
  • Housing costs – rent or mortgage (your share)
  • Monthly health insurance premiums (all household members)
  • Alimony and maintenance payments
  • Transportation costs and meals at the workplace
  • Existing loan and lease obligations
  • Withholding tax (automatically calculated according to canton and marital status)
Important: KKG calculation ≠ subjective budget

Swiss banks strictly adhere to the Consumer Protection Act (KKG). The legally mandated basic allowance for a single person is CHF 1,100–1,200 per month (depending on living situation), and CHF 1,700 for couples including their partner. In addition, child costs are factored in at a flat rate of CHF 400 (under 10 years) or CHF 600 (11–25 years) per child per month.

How is the credit limit determined?

Your maximum loan payment is determined by your monthly disposable income after deducting all expenses. The calculation uses the annuity formula with a conservative reference interest rate. The result is intended as a preliminary guide.

The actual approved credit limit also depends on your Creditworthiness and your ZEK score as well as the bank's individual allocation guidelines.

Legal notice: The budget calculator provides a non-binding estimate of the possible credit limit and does not constitute a binding loan offer. The results do not replace an individual credit check by a bank. The effective annual interest rate is between 4.91 and 9.951, in accordance with the legal maximum (Art. 9 KKG).
